Idukki: The Adimali police arrested Saritha (29), wife of Eldos, and Shyamala (56), wife of Pushkaran, 56, wife of Pushkaran at Pattithanam Cheruvil house, Kottayam, and Vimal Pushkaran, Vimal Pushkaran. Adimali extorted Rs.20 lakh from five persons in an area of 200 acres.
The modus operandi was receiving money from investors through online app,. Four people, including two women, have been arrested in a case of fraud in promising to double their deposits in 10 months. Initially, the group paid investors twice as much to win the trust of investors. Saritha, who is also an auto driver in Adimali, is the main link in the scam. The other three members of the group are from the same family. They have been receiving money from investors since 2021.
After investors were deceived the complaint was lodged at Atimali police two months ago but the accused absconded. Following the recommendation of Idukki ASP Mr. Raj Prasad, SIs Ms. T. P. Judy, Mr. Abdul Khani arrested the accused along with TM Noushad Abbas.
