Telangana, Hyderabad: On January 30, 2025, a four-day CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training program was inaugurated by Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, Director General and Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, at the Commissioner’s Office, ICCC Building, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner stated that the training program is being organized in collaboration with Mythri Hospital, Mehdipatnam, and expressed gratitude to the hospital for conducting CPR training for 1,409 police personnel in the first phase.

In the second phase, 1,248 officers and personnel from Hyderabad City Police will undergo training. They will be divided into 15 batches, with each batch receiving 90-minute training sessions.

Emphasizing the significance of CPR, the Commissioner noted that the training would benefit not just police personnel but also the general public. CPR helps restore blood circulation and oxygen supply to the body in cases of cardiac arrest, which can be life-saving. If performed promptly, it can prevent brain damage and improve survival rates. He urged everyone to act quickly in emergencies, as delays in administering CPR can be fatal.

He also pointed out that 98% of the Indian population remains untrained in CPR procedures, despite its importance in saving lives during medical emergencies. Countries like the United States, Japan, Singapore, and various European nations have incorporated CPR training into their education systems, significantly reducing preventable deaths. Currently, 1.15 lakh people die each day due to cardiac arrests worldwide, with the World Health Organization (WHO) reporting 5.8 crore heart attack-related deaths annually.

The Commissioner stressed the need for greater awareness of CPR and recalled how training was provided to all personnel during his tenure with CISF. He further requested Mythri Hospital to extend CPR training to all 16,000 police officers and personnel in Hyderabad.

The event was attended by Smt. Rakshita Krishna Murthy, IPS, DCP CAR Headquarters; Shri Anoop Jaikumar, CTC Principal, Petla Buruju; Dr. Mohammad Mohib Hussain, Mythri Hospital; Dr. Mohammad Sadiq Azam, Cardiologist; Dr. Faisal Ahmed; Dr. Zoha Sufian; Sri Naziruddin Ahmed, Assistant Manager, along with other senior police officials.
