Tamil Nadu, Madurai: In protest against the arrest of farmers in Punjab by the Punjab Police and paramilitary forces, the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Protection Association (TNFAS) staged a rail strike at five locations across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Tiruppur, and Mayiladuthurai, demanding a minimum support price of ₹3,500 per quintal for paddy.

As part of the protest, 25 farmers, led by TNFAS State Deputy General Secretary Netaji, gathered at the railway station in Madurai district and attempted to stage a rail blockade. Upon receiving information, the railway police, under the leadership of Madurai District Railway Police Deputy Superintendent Kamatchi, along with Usilampatti Nagar police, intervened and arrested the farmers as a precautionary measure.
