Kerala, Idukki, April/May 2025: The Idukki District Police is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of three of its officers who have brought honor to the force and the state of Kerala by winning gold medals in prestigious national-level sports competitions.
On April 20, 2025, at the 7th National Masters Sports Meet held in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Boban Balakrishnan, Civil Police Officer stationed at the Idukki District Police Headquarters and a native of Thodupuzha, clinched a gold medal in handball, representing Kerala in the masters category. His victory not only showcases his athletic prowess but also highlights the physical fitness culture encouraged within the police department.
Further adding to the district’s sporting accolades, Mr. Benny K Mammen, Assistant Sub-Inspector at the District Police Headquarters, secured gold medals in the 400-meter and 800-meter races at the First Open National Masters Athletic Championship 2025, held on April 26–27 at Maharaja’s College Grounds, Ernakulam. His performance in track events reflected both endurance and disciplined training.
Additionally, Mr. Jayan P K, Sub-Inspector at the Police Control Room, Thodupuzha, earned a gold medal in the 50+ Table Tennis Team Championships at the All India Police Badminton Cluster (Badminton & Table Tennis) 2024–25, which took place from April 11 to 15 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Ernakulam. Notably, this marks his second consecutive gold in the same event, cementing his reputation as a top performer at the national level among police athletes.
Recognizing their outstanding performances, District Police Chief Shri Vishnu Pradeep T K, IPS, personally congratulated and felicitated the officers for their dedication, discipline, and exemplary representation of the Idukki Police on the national stage. The achievements of these officers serve as an inspiration for fellow personnel and reflect the department’s commitment to promoting physical fitness and all-round excellence.
