Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a significant boost to law enforcement and traffic monitoring, state-of-the-art Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed at five strategic checkpoints within Tirunelveli City Police limits. The locations include Melapalayam (Karunkulam), KTC Nagar, Thachanallur Subbaraj Mill, Pettai ITI, and Palayapettai.
These advanced cameras utilize infrared technology to accurately capture vehicle registration numbers, colors, and types—even during nighttime operations.
This technological upgrade will play a crucial role in identifying suspects involved in criminal activities and tracking vehicles used in crimes. All vehicles passing through these checkpoints will now come under round-the-clock (24×7) surveillance, significantly strengthening public safety and crime prevention efforts across the city.
