Thrissur Rural, Kerala: In a major crackdown on interstate narcotics trafficking, the Thrissur Rural Police achieved a significant breakthrough by intercepting a lorry carrying 125 kilograms of ganja, leading to the arrest of four key members of a notorious drug trafficking network.
The operation was carried out under the directive of Thrissur Rural District Police Chief B. Krishnakumar IPS, and executed jointly by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and Puthukkad Police, as part of a targeted inspection drive on the National Highway.
Operation Highlights:
125 kg of ganja seized from a lorry en route from Odisha to Kerala, cleverly concealed under tarpaulin and sacks.
Four hardened criminals arrested, all with serious criminal histories, including multiple narcotics and violent crime cases.
Ganja was intended for distribution across central Kerala.
Mobile phones and communication records of the accused are being examined to trace wider links.
Arrested Accused:
Ashlyn – Involved in multiple cases, including the Chalakudy highway robbery.
Tharis – Accused in 16 criminal cases, including a brutal murder and abduction cases.
Kingini Shijo alias Shijo – Facing 6 narcotics cases, involved in ATM vandalism and 12 other criminal cases.
Jabir – Previously arrested in a 160 kg ganja seizure in Palakkad.
The seized lorry, used as the primary transport vehicle, was part of a wider interstate network trafficking contraband from Odisha into Kerala. Preliminary investigations suggest that the gang distributed ganja at multiple points during their journey. The current seizure and arrests are expected to disrupt a major supply chain of narcotics in the region.

The operation was led by Chalakudy DySP P.C. Biju Kumar, under the coordination of Rural Crime Branch DySP Ullas Kumar and Puthukkad SHO Mahendrasinhan, with key support from DANSAF and Additional SIs.

Forward Action:
A detailed investigation is underway to track down the remaining consignment and identify the masterminds and interstate connections. The Rural Police are also examining phone records and financial transactions to dismantle the entire network.
