Dehradun, Uttarakhand: In a major breakthrough under “Operation Kalanemi,” Dehradun Police under the able guidance of SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh have intensified their crackdown on a well-organized illegal conversion gang operating under the guise of religious manipulation. A fresh case has been registered under the Religious Freedom Act, reaffirming the police’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals from coercion and deception.
The investigation began following the statement of a victim from Ranipokhari, leading to critical revelations about another girl from Bareilly who had fallen into the gang’s trap. Interrogation exposed the alarming extent of the gang’s international links—spanning across Pakistan and Dubai—and their deliberate targeting of emotionally vulnerable young women.
The gang lured victims—particularly girls estranged from their families—by feigning sympathy, then manipulated them into fleeing their homes, subsequently taking them to Delhi for forced conversion and marriage. This network exploited legal loopholes, but with the implementation of strict anti-conversion laws and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, law enforcement has gained a sharper edge.
Six accused individuals have already been arrested and will soon be brought to Dehradun with Warrant B issued by the Hon’ble Court. Special police teams are actively pursuing the absconding accused.
Uttarakhand Police remain resolute in their mission under Operation Kalanemi, taking firm action against those who exploit and mislead women by concealing their identities and religious affiliations.
