Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: The Tirunelveli District Police have stepped up their relentless fight against illegal drug trafficking, delivering significant results in 2025. With a strong focus on safeguarding public health, police teams are maintaining strict surveillance on the sale of banned substances including ganja, gutka, tobacco products, and other narcotics.
So far this year, 140 ganja-related cases and 182 tobacco-related cases have been registered. In these operations, officers have seized 225.4 kg of ganja and frozen three bank accounts linked to offenders. Firm action under the Goondas Act has been taken against 11 individuals involved in drug peddling.
In addition, a massive 3,096 kg of banned tobacco products has been confiscated, with 203 persons facing legal action.
The police have assured that the crackdown will continue without fear or favour, reaffirming their commitment to keeping Tirunelveli drug-free and safe for all.
