Chennai, Tamil Nadu: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 590 kg of ganja worth around ₹3 crore in Gummidipoondi, Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, on 31st August 2025. Six persons involved in the smuggling operation were arrested, and two vehicles used for transportation were confiscated.
The operation, conducted under the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and directives of Hon’ble Union Home Minister, reflects NCB’s strong resolve to build a Drug-Free India.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were part of a larger interstate and international drug syndicate. Further inquiries are ongoing to identify and apprehend more members of the network.
