Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, Sept 20, 2025: In a swift operation, Mannargudi and Valangaiman Police raided grocery shops in their limits and arrested two persons involved in selling banned gutkha and pan masala products.
The accused, Thajudeen (63), son of Sarbuddin, of Uttamadhanapuram, Valangaiman, and Deesh (40), son of Sivaprakasam, of Pudutheru, Mannargudi, were caught with approximately 11 kg of prohibited gutkha and related products worth ₹16,500. Both were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
Thiruvarur District Superintendent of Police, Shri Karun Karat, IPS, appreciated the police officers and constables for their effective action. He also issued a stern warning that strict action, including detention under the Goondas Act, will be taken against those engaged in selling ganja, banned tobacco, or illicit liquor harmful to the public.
