Silchar, Assam, November 6, 2025: In a major success against the menace of narcotics trafficking, the Cachar District Police have seized 20,000 suspected Yaba tablets during a well-coordinated anti-narcotics operation conducted at Dakhin Mohanpur area on Thursday.
During the operation, the police team intercepted a Hyundai Grand i10 car (Reg. No. ML05 AB 2463) and upon thorough inspection, recovered the narcotic tablets concealed inside the vehicle. Two accused persons — Ibrahim Hussain Mazumder (30) and Mokbul Hussain Mazumdar (26) — were apprehended on the spot.
Preliminary testing using a Drug Detection Kit confirmed the presence of amphetamine in the seized tablets. The entire search and seizure procedure was carried out under videography in the presence of independent witnesses, in strict adherence to legal protocols.
Superintendent of Police, Cachar, appreciated the police team for their alertness and swift action, which led to the interception of the narcotics consignment before it could reach its intended destination.
Further investigation is underway to trace the wider drug supply network and identify those involved in the illegal trafficking chain.
The Cachar Police reaffirm their commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and urge citizens to report any information related to drug trafficking to local police stations or the nearest law enforcement authority.
