Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand: Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police, Pithoragarh, Mrs. Rekha Yadav, the district police are continuously organizing awareness initiatives to prevent crime and ensure the safety of the general public.
As part of this ongoing effort, on December 16, 2025, a police team led by Inspector-in-Charge of Darchula Police Station, Mr. Harendra Singh Negi, conducted a comprehensive women’s safety awareness programme at the Block Auditorium, Darchula. The programme witnessed active participation from women belonging to various rural areas.
During the interaction, Inspector Negi provided detailed information on crimes against women, offences involving children, domestic violence, and the legal provisions in place for their prevention and protection. The participants were encouraged to approach the police without fear or hesitation in case of any difficulty and were informed about important helpline numbers and support mechanisms available to them.
The initiative aimed at empowering women through legal awareness and building trust between the police and the community. District police officials stated that such programmes play a vital role in creating a safer environment and affirmed that similar awareness campaigns will continue to be conducted regularly in the future.
