JAIPUR: The Jaipur Police are investigating into an accident case where a man died on the spot when he rammed his bike into a bus on the Jaipur-Ajmer road on Monday. The victim has been identified as Ramesh Chandra aged 37 and worked as a laborer and was on his way to work at Bais Goddam.
A police officer said that the accident took place at around 9.30 AM on Monday when Ramesh Chandra and his colleague were on their way to work. As they were going a bus suddenly came into their way and applied the brake. Mr. Chandra was unable to control his bike and hit the bus from behind. It was probably because the bike was driven at high speed and because of the sudden brake applied by the bus that the victim died on the spot. The Police officer said that only the rider of the bike lost his life on the spot but the pillion rider escaped unhurt. The main reason for the cause of accidents are usually speeding and not following traffic rules. He said that the fault in this accident case lies on both the drivers.
The traffic police has been running a campaign and giving punishment to hundreds of violators on a daily basis. Senior Police officials said that it is the responsibility of the citizens to follow traffic rules. On Saturday and Sunday the traffic police took action against 200 drivers for driving during the influence of alcohol under 185 Motor Vehicles Act. Of the 200 violators the maximum numbers are two wheeler and the police personal seized 138 bikes and/or scooters.
