Raigarh, Chhattisgarh | June 23, 2025: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing war against drugs, Chakradharnagar Police have arrested a young man and woman in possession of banned narcotics, acting swiftly on confidential information. The duo was caught red-handed near the Medical College Road while attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into Raigarh from Kankatura, Odisha.
Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Shri Divyang Kumar Patel and City Superintendent of Police Shri Anil Vishwakarma, the police team laid a well-coordinated trap on the main road in front of MCH Hospital on June 22. When the suspects tried to flee on spotting the police, officers acted promptly and apprehended them.
The arrested individuals were identified as Durgesh Dewangan alias Pintu (31), resident of Ambedkar Awas, ITI Colony, Raigarh, and Kumkum Mahant alias Sonam (18), resident of Thakurpali Godam, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district.
A search of their black backpack led to the seizure of:
- 250 NRX Pentazocine Lactate injections (1ml) worth ₹7,325
- 16 strips of Nitrazohm-10 tablets worth ₹720
- Pulsar motorcycle (CG 13 AU 0699) valued at ₹1,00,000
Total seizure value: ₹1,08,045
A case has been registered under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act (Crime No. 278/2025), and further investigation is underway.
The operation was successfully conducted under the supervision of Chakradharnagar Police Station Incharge Inspector Amit Shukla, with key contributions from Sub Inspector Gendalal Sahu, Constables Sushil Minj, Chandrakumar Banjare, Minketan Patel, and Lady Constables Elisha Toppo and Madhuri Rathia.
