Nalgonda, Telangana: Khammam police have established seven check posts at state and district borders to curb the illegal transportation of cattle from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad. The check posts have been strategically placed at Paladugu in Wyra mandal, Basvapuram Cross Road in Konijerla mandal, Hanuman Thanda in Kalluru mandal, Venkatagiri Cross Road in Khammam Rural mandal, Subled Cross Road in Tirumalapem mandal, Sigarenipally Toll Plaza in Kusumanchi mandal, and Vallabhi in Mudigonda mandal. Police and animal husbandry staff have been deployed at all locations for 24/7 surveillance.
Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt stated that these steps are being taken to prevent potential law and order issues linked to illegal cattle movement. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against offenders.
In view of the upcoming Bakrid festival, the commissioner directed officials to increase vigilance. He also stressed the importance of maintaining communal harmony and warned against using social media to spread misinformation or incite discord.
A special social media monitoring unit has been set up to detect and act against those spreading inflammatory or false content that could disrupt public peace.
