Jammu & Kashmir, August 7, 2025: In a tragic incident this morning between 1030 and 1100 hours, a joint Quick Action Team (QAT) of 137 and 187 Battalions of CRPF, returning from a one-day operational deployment, met with an accident in the Basantgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir.
The vehicle carrying the personnel skidded off a narrow road between Punara and Lodhra, plunging into a deep gorge. The unfortunate accident resulted in the loss of two brave hearts in the line of duty, while 16 personnel sustained injuries.
All injured personnel were promptly evacuated and are currently receiving treatment at the Military Hospital in Udhampur.
Shri Gyanendra Pratap Singh, IPS, Director General of CRPF, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. “We salute the supreme sacrifice made by our valiant personnel in the service of the nation. CRPF stands shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” said the DG.
Every possible effort is being made to ensure the best medical care and support for the injured personnel.
