Hyderabad, Telangana, May 2025: In a significant achievement, the Commissioner’s Task Force – West Zone Team, in close coordination with Musheerabad Police, successfully apprehended a fraudster who was impersonating a Forest Beat Officer and police constable to deceive and extort job seekers. This operation highlights the Hyderabad Police’s unwavering commitment to protecting citizens from fraud and ensuring public safety.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest of Fraudster
Based on credible information, the joint team acted swiftly and arrested the accused, Konakanchi Kiran Kumar (30), a resident of Yousufguda, Hyderabad, and a native of Khammam District. The accused had been masquerading as a government official, collecting money from unsuspecting youth by falsely promising them government jobs.
Seized Material:
During the operation, police seized a large cache of incriminating items, including:
- A fake Forest Department ID card (Government of Telangana)
- Three nameplates in the accused’s name
- A Hero Glamour motorcycle equipped with a police siren and fake number plate
- Khaki uniform, official-looking accessories such as a TSF-marked belt, cap, and whistle cord
- ₹5.45 lakhs in cash
- Two mobile phones
- Original certificates of one of the victims, Jerupula Subash, including academic and identity documents
Modus Operandi:
The accused would dress in uniform and use a siren-equipped vehicle to convincingly impersonate a police or forest official, creating a façade of authority. Under this guise, he lured unemployed youth by offering fake job assurances in government departments. Victims were manipulated into handing over money and original documents with the belief that they would receive government appointments. So far, five individuals have been identified as victims, with total fraud amounting to over ₹20 lakhs.
Known Criminal History:
This is not the first time the accused has been involved in criminal activity. He has a history of impersonation and fraud, with eight criminal cases registered against him across multiple districts, including Khammam, Suryapet, Sangareddy, Rachakonda, and Hyderabad.
Commendable Police Effort:
This successful operation was led by Sri Ch. Yadendar, Inspector of Police, West Zone Task Force, under the guidance of senior officers. He was ably supported by SI Sri G. Naveen and dedicated personnel from the West Zone Task Force and Musheerabad Police Station.
The accused has been handed over to the Station House Officer, Musheerabad Police Station, along with all seized materials, for further legal proceedings.

The Hyderabad Police urge citizens to remain vigilant and to verify the identity of individuals claiming to be government officials. Public cooperation is vital in identifying and preventing such fraudulent activities. Suspicious behavior should be reported immediately at the nearest police station or through official helplines.
