Kerala, Thrissur City, May 2 – In a proactive and commendable effort to ensure public safety during the iconic Thrissur Pooram festival, Thrissur City Police have successfully arrested 15 individuals involved in theft-related activities as part of a special anti-crime drive.
In the latest operation, police apprehended four accused connected to a mobile phone theft that occurred near Sakthan Stand on April 23, when a commuter from Ernakulam was boarding a KSRTC bus. The accused—Sivashankara Panicker (62), Shameer (32), Shahir (38), and Sufiyan (24)—are all repeat offenders with links to over 24 criminal cases registered across various police stations.
This operation was carried out under the direct supervision of City Police Commissioner Ilango R. IPS, with Assistant Commissioner Saleesh N Shankaran leading a vigilant special patrolling team. The Commissioner emphasized that special security measures and surveillance will continue across the city during the festival to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all attendees.
The investigation and arrest operation was conducted by a dedicated team comprising Inspector Jijo M.J, SI Bipin P. Nair, Senior Civil Police Officer Gireesh, and CPOs Suraj and Ajmal.
