Fire broke out in Malkhana belonging to Delhi Police and 350 vehicles were burnt

Delhi: A fire broke out in Malkhana under the Sagarpur police station in Delhi’s southwest district.  Nearly 350 vehicles parked on the ground caught fire.  No information was found on the possible causes of the fire.  After hours of hard work, a dozen vehicles from the fire brigade are said to have put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown. A fire broke out at Malkhana in Sagarpur police station in Delhi’s southwest district on Sunday afternoon.  About 250 two-wheelers and 100 cars were gutted in the blaze.

According to DCP South West, Mr. Gaurav Sharma IPS, vehicles related to the case and accident vehicles were kept in a large area under the Sagarpur police station.  Vehicles parked in Malkhana (on the ground) saw the fire burning to the vehicles and the duty police immediately informed the fire department.  Dozens of fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene and worked for hours to contain the blaze, but by then about 250 motorcycles and 100 cars were on fire.

According to DCP Southwest Mr. Gaurav Sharma IPS, most accident vehicles, vehicles seized from thieves, vehicles seized or damaged in the accident are kept in this mall.

The FSL team visited the scene and collected all the samples, investigating what could have been the cause of the fire,

Each police station has a malkhana in which all the documents related to the case, case assets, vehicles, weapons, and drugs seized during the case are kept in this malkhana.
