Rachakonda: On 6.1.2015 at 0800 hours Rajapet Police received a complaint from Mr. Samala Rajaratnam S/o Kistaiah, Aged 47 years, Occ: Agriculture, resident of Baswapuram Village of Bhongir Mandal wherein he stated that, he performed the marriage of his daughter/deceased Navya alias Jyothi with accused Ghanapuram Shiva Kumar son of Chendramouli, aged 30 years, resident of Challur Village, Rajapet about Four years back and gave 5 Lakh rupees cash, 10 Tulas Gold and other articles.
After 6 Months of the marriage the accused Shiva Kumar started harassing the deceased Navya mentally and physically for additional dowry and demanded a motor cycle, for which the complainant with great difficulty provided the same and requested the accused not to harass his daughter Navya. But the accused Shiva Kumar did not heed his words and continued to harass his wife and again demanded additional dowry on knowing that the complainant is about to receive compensation from government due to submerged agricultural lands in Prana Hitha Chevella 16th stage package project. The complainant with the help of other villagers held panchyath twice and requested the accused not to harass his daughter and assured that he will provide the amount soon after the receipt of the amount from the Government. In spite of the mediations the accused did not change his attitude and continued to harass the deceased.
In another instance the accused Shiva Kumar demanded to provide 1 Lakh Rupees as additional dowry in order to pay for the allotment of flat in Rajiv Gruha Kalpa and threatened that he will continue harassment on the deceased until he receives 1 Lakh rupees. On 6.1.2015 at about 0600 hours the accused Shiva Kumar with an intention to kill his wife, he strangulated his wife’s neck to death and poured kerosene on her body and to screen the murder he set ablaze and created the scene as the deceased committed suicide on her own.
Basing on the complaint a case was registered at Rajapet Police Station, during the course of investigation, the 10. Mr. S. Mohan Reddy SDPO, Bhongir arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody. On completion of investigation the 10 filed the charge sheet. During the trail today on 22.8.2022 the Hon’ble Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhongir Mr. V. Bala Bhaskara Rao convicted the accused Ghanapuram Shiva Kumar, son of Chandramouli, Aged 30 Years, resident of Yadadri District to undergo Life imprisonment conviction and imposed fine of Rs.3,000/-.
In this case the 10. Mr. S. Mohan Reddy SDPO, Bhongir, CDO Mr. G.Srinu of Rajapet Police Station, Addl PP. Mr. Jameel have attended on behalf of prosecution.
CP Rachakonda Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS., and Addl. CP Rachakonda Mr. G. Sudheer Babu IPS., appreciated the IO, CDO, Court Liaison Officer Mr. Srinivas, Addl. PP, SHO Rajapet Mr. G.Srinivas Reddy, ACP Yadadri Mr. K. Narsimha Reddy, DCP Bhongir, Mr. K.Narayana Reddy, IPS for their efforts in getting the Life imprisonment conviction to the accused and announced rewards to them.
