Jashpur, Chhattisgarh: Acting swiftly on a sensitive case, Bagicha Police have arrested Gopal Ram (50), a resident of village Rengola, for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Goddess Durga and Hinduism in a temple committee WhatsApp group.
Police teams detained the accused in Rengola village and seized his mobile phone used in the offense. A case has been registered under Sections 196(1) and 299 of the IPC. During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime and was subsequently sent to judicial remand.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Shri Shashi Mohan Singh, stated: “Anyone attempting to disturb religious harmony will not be spared. The police are fully committed to maintaining peace and communal harmony in Jashpur.”
