Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu: In a commendable initiative to promote public health and youth awareness, Karaikudi Police actively participated in a tobacco eradication rally organized by Chettinad Public School in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district. The rally was part of the school’s broader community awareness campaign aimed at building a healthier and drug-free society.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Parthiban flagged off the rally from the iconic Five Lights junction, where over 550 students from Class IX to XII raised powerful slogans against tobacco use. The rally culminated at Kannadasan Mani Mandapam, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in social reform.
Prominent dignitaries including Police Inspector Ramachandran, Traffic Inspector Baskaran, Health Inspector Muthuvel, and Tahsildar Mr. Raja addressed the students, emphasizing the long-term consequences of tobacco and drug use and the role of youth in driving societal change.
Speaking on the occasion, Chettinad Public School Chairman Mr. S.P. Kumaresan urged students to be role models in their families and communities, underlining that clarity in thought and discipline are the foundations of a successful life.
DSP Parthiban, in his impactful address, warned against the dangers of substance abuse, stating, “Tobacco leads to wrong life choices, mental fatigue, and depression. Choose your friends wisely and always stay on the right path.”
Inspector Ramachandran reminded students that habits like smoking not only harm health but isolate individuals socially, while Traffic Inspector Baskaran stressed the crucial role teachers play in guiding youth.
Health Inspector Muthuvel called upon parents and guardians to engage in open dialogue with children and help steer them away from harmful influences. The event concluded with a national feast, symbolizing unity and shared commitment to a healthy future.
