Ludhiana: On Thursday morning, a horrific incident took place in Kotala village of Samrala where a carpenter identified as Harwinder Singh, attacked his wife Jaswinder Kaur, aged 38, and their 17-year-old son Lovepreet Singh with an axe. Both victims suffered multiple injuries to their heads and faces and were left lying in a pool of blood in a field.

According to sources, the accused fled the scene with his 14-year-old son, leaving the injured victims behind. The Samrala police registered a first information report (FIR) against Harwinder Singh for attempted murder and have launched a hunt for his arrest. The motive behind the attack is not yet clear, and investigations are ongoing.

However, neighbors of the couple informed the police that Harwinder Singh was a drug addict and often used to beat up his wife over petty issues. The police have been taking statements from the neighbors and family members to find out more about the accused’s history of violence.

Sharing further details, sub-inspector Bhinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) at the Samrala police station, said that the accused would be arrested soon, and the investigation is still ongoing.

The incident has left the residents of Kotala village in shock, and they are calling for strict action to be taken against Harwinder Singh.
