Wayanad, Kerala, November 5, 2025: The Mananthavady Sub-Division team clinched the Volleyball Championship title at the Wayanad District Police Sports Festival 2025, defeating Kalpetta Sub-Division in the finals held at Kenichira Yuvaprathibha Indoor Stadium. Bathery Sub-Division secured the third position in the competition.
The tournament was inaugurated by District C-Branch DySP Sri K.G. Praveen Kumar, with Special Branch DySP and Games Committee Chairman Sri M.M. Abdul Karim, Sports Committee members Irshad Mubarak, Bipin Sunny, and District Volleyball Association Secretary Sri M.P. Haridas in attendance.
The official inauguration ceremony of the District Police Sports Festival will be held at 8 PM at the M.K. Jinachandran Memorial District Stadium, Kalpetta, to be officiated by Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Sri O.R. Kelu. Former Indian Women’s Basketball Team Captain P.S. Jeena will grace the event as Chief Guest.
The final match of the football tournament and the athletic meet are scheduled for later in the evening, followed by the closing ceremony, which will be inaugurated by District Collector Dr. Meghasree IAS.
The festival aims to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among police personnel, while fostering team spirit and wellness across the district police force.
