Punjab, Moga: In a major step towards modernizing policing and enhancing public safety, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab inaugurated a Smart Control Room in Moga district, equipped with cutting-edge surveillance systems and real-time monitoring technologies.
As part of this initiative, 140 hi-tech surveillance cameras—including 107 bullet cameras and 33 AI-powered ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras—have been strategically installed across Moga City, Baghapurana, and Dharamkot. These cameras will enable round-the-clock monitoring of suspicious activities, with ANPR systems capable of scanning number plates, retaining data for up to a year, and aiding in tracing stolen or suspect vehicles. Plans are also in place to integrate facial recognition technology at key locations.
To further strengthen emergency response, 12 ODR smart vehicles have been deployed, equipped with Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras and fire extinguishing tools. These vehicles are tracked live from the Control Room, ensuring swift action during critical situations.
DGP Punjab also announced future expansion of the surveillance network, with 140 additional ANPR cameras to be installed in Nihal Singh Wala, Baghapurana, and Dharamkot sub-divisions.
In recognition of outstanding service, several police officers were honored with the DGP Disc, certificates, and cash rewards.
During his visit, DGP Punjab also reviewed the district’s efforts under the Punjab Government’s campaign ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) and interacted with police personnel, gathering suggestions to further strengthen enforcement and prevention measures.
This initiative marks a significant leap toward making Moga a smarter, safer city and underscores Punjab Police’s commitment to technology-driven, proactive policing.
