Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh – May 14, 2025: In a remarkable display of efficiency and coordination, the Prakasam District Police successfully apprehended nine accused individuals involved in the sensational murder of businessman and former MPP Muppavarapu Veeraiah Chowdary. The crime, which occurred on April 22 at a private office in Ongole, sent shockwaves through the region. Thanks to swift investigation and relentless follow-up, the police cracked the complex conspiracy within weeks.
The case (Cr.No. 249/2025) was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Ongole Taluka Police Station following a brutal attack at Shashirekha Agency Building, where Veeraiah was fatally stabbed by four assailants. The attackers, who arrived on two-wheelers, threatened staff and fled the scene.
Under the direction of Prakasam District SP Shri A.R. Damodar, IPS, Ongole DSP Shri R. Srinivas Rao spearheaded the multi-agency investigation. Multiple police units, including CIs from Ongole Taluk, Women PS, Chimakurthy PS, CI-CCS, CI-Traffic, and other officers, formed specialized teams to investigate all angles.
Breakthrough through Forensic Precision and Teamwork
During the investigation, critical evidence, including two abandoned vehicles—a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle and a Suzuki Access-125 scooty—led to the identification of the suspects. Police traced documents found in the scooty and cross-referenced technical data, resulting in a breakthrough.
On May 14, 2025, the following nine individuals were arrested in coordinated operations across districts: Borlagunta Vinod Kumar, Tuvvara Vamshi Krishna @ Jalsa Vamsi, Bellamkonda Venkata Goutham, Mannem Teja @ Bunny, Marturi Kiran Kumar, Sk Sameer, Alla Sambasiva Rao @ Sambaiah, Veeragandham Devendranath Chowdary, and Thota Srinivasa Rao.
The police also seized seven mobile phones, three knives, and a black bag used during the operation.
Complex Conspiracy Unraveled
The investigation revealed a deeply rooted personal and political rivalry as the motive. The deceased, Veeraiah, a prominent figure in local politics and business, had longstanding disputes with some of the accused. What began as a local feud escalated into a premeditated murder plot involving hired criminals and inter-district coordination.
The accused meticulously planned the crime, monitored the victim’s movements, and used coded messages and decoys to execute their operation. The use of CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and intelligence networks helped law enforcement unravel the conspiracy.

Recognizing the dedication and success of the investigation, SP Shri A.R. Damodar, IPS, commended Ongole DSP Shri R. Srinivas Rao and the following officers and units for their exemplary service:
CIs of Ongole Taluk PS, Women PS, Chimakurthy PS, CI-CCS, CI-Traffic, CI-IT Core Ongole, CI-Markapur, CI-Ongole Rural, CI-Y. Palem,
