Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh | May 10, 2025: In a determined effort to enhance community safety and public awareness, the Srikakulam District Police, under the directions of District Superintendent of Police Sri KV Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, conducted a large-scale awareness campaign on Saturday across various police station limits in the district.
As part of the ongoing ‘Sankalpam’ program, police personnel reached out to villages and community spaces to educate the public on a wide range of critical safety and security topics. A key highlight of the campaign was the promotion of the ‘Shakti’ mobile application, designed to ensure the safety of women and vulnerable individuals, especially in emergencies.
The awareness drive also addressed the dangers and consequences of narcotic substances such as ganja (marijuana), synthetic drugs, and other illegal intoxicants. Police officials explained how these substances not only pose serious health risks but also contribute to crime, youth addiction, and social instability.
In addition, villagers were sensitized on road safety, the prevention of cybercrimes, violence against women, and the importance of early reporting of criminal incidents. Police teams emphasized the need for community vigilance and encouraged people to use helplines and mobile apps to report illegal activities promptly.
The Sankalpam initiative, aimed at fostering a drug-free and safe society, has been gaining traction across the district, with active public participation and support from local leaders, school authorities, and women’s groups.
District SP Sri KV Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, reiterated that such grassroots awareness efforts will continue in phases, with an emphasis on empowering citizens to protect themselves and collaborate with law enforcement for a safer society.
