Kerala, Wayanad: The Wayanad police have arrested a Tanzanian national, identified as a key figure in the drug supply network to the state, from Bengaluru. Prince Samson (25), a resident of Goba Village, was apprehended by the District Police Chief’s Anti-Narcotics Squad and the Bathery police. A police team, led by Bathery Inspector SHO N.P. Raghavan, took him into custody from his residence in M.S. Nagar, Bengaluru.
Prince Samson, a BCA student at a government college in Bengaluru, has been residing in the city since 2021 and has played a crucial role in supplying drugs, including MDMA, to the state. His arrest followed an investigation into an earlier incident in which Shafeek, a native of Cherumukku, Malappuram, was caught with 93.84 grams of MDMA during a vehicle inspection at the Muthanga check post on February 24.
The probe revealed that Shafeek had transferred ₹70,000 to Prince Samson’s account for purchasing drugs. Shafeek intended to smuggle the MDMA for both personal use and retail distribution within the state. Further investigation uncovered transactions amounting to ₹80 lakh in Samson’s account over two months.
During the operation, authorities seized five mobile phones, five laptops, and several documents from his possession. The investigation was led by Bathery DySP K.K. Abdul Sherif and Sub-Inspector Atul Mohan.
