Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: In a major step towards wildlife protection, forest officials in Dindigul district arrested three individuals for attempting to illegally sell elephant ivory near Thandikudi.
The operation was carried out by Vatthalakundu Forest Rangers under the leadership of Kasilingam, with Foresters Muthukumar and Ramesh, and forest guards during a routine patrol in the Thandikudi, Mangalam Kombu, and Perumbarai forest ranges.
The accused—identified as Suruli Vel, Baskaran, and Radhakrishnan—were caught red-handed in possession of the ivory. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and potential network behind the illegal trade.
The Forest Department’s swift action highlights their strong commitment to wildlife conservation and strict enforcement of laws protecting endangered species.
