Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a major success for the district police and prosecution team, the Tirunelveli First Additional Sessions Court has sentenced three accused—Savarimuthu (37), Bhagyaraj (40), and Vijay (31)—to life imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 each in connection with a 2013 murder case at Vagaikulam, Ambasamudram. Another accused, Krishnan, had passed away last year.

The conviction was achieved through the dedicated efforts of the Tirunelveli District Police, with Deputy Superintendent of Police Cheranmahadevi Sub-division Aswanth Anto Arogyaraj, Inspector Velraj, and Munneerpallam Police playing a key role in securing strong witness testimonies.

District Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan, IPS, commended the officers and witnesses for their commitment to justice. Notably, in 2025 alone, Tirunelveli Police have secured convictions in 18 murder cases, including one death penalty and life imprisonment for 63 offenders, many of whom were repeat criminals.

This conviction highlights the zero tolerance approach of Tirunelveli Police against crime and their continuous efforts to ensure justice for victims.
