Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu | May 10, 2025: In a proactive anti-narcotics operation, the Tirunelveli District Police arrested a 19-year-old man for possession of ganja, a contraband substance prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During a routine patrol near Sivakamipuram petrol station in the Pappakudi area, officers noticed a young man exhibiting suspicious behavior. The individual was subsequently intercepted and identified as Sudalai, a resident of Water Tank Street, Keezha Pappakudi.
A thorough personal search led to the seizure of 30 grams of ganja from his possession. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Alwar of the Pappakudi Police Station, who promptly registered a case and placed the accused under arrest.
The seized contraband has been sent for analysis and preserved as evidence. Sudalai now faces charges under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further legal procedures are underway to investigate the source and intent of the illegal possession.
The Tirunelveli District Police have reiterated their commitment to combating the drug menace, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities through toll-free helplines or local police stations.
