Trichy, Tamil Nadu: On the directions of District Superintendent of Police S. Selvanagarathnam, IPS, the Anti-Child Trafficking Unit (ACTU) conducted an awareness programme at Shivani Polytechnic College on 25.08.2025 to educate students on crimes against women and children.
During the session, students were informed about key helpline numbers – 181 and 1091 for women in distress, and 1098 for child-related emergencies. Officers highlighted the importance of timely reporting and the role of youth in preventing exploitation and abuse.
As part of digital empowerment, the students were also introduced to the ‘Police Help’ mobile app, designed to provide quick access to police services. A total of 127 students successfully downloaded the app during the programme, ensuring they stay connected to essential safety features.
The Trichy Police reiterated their commitment to protecting women and children and encouraged students to act as ambassadors of awareness in society.
